This chonky boy is the biggest of the EF-series.
It’ll filter down to things that are half the size of a typical bacteria (0.5 microns). It has two certifications from the NSF for taste/smell and for “reducing cysts by mechanical means” (42 and 53). It can filter up to 6000 gallons before needing to be changed, which is enough water for a family of four, for a year.
Oh, and this chungus is also a full flow filter, so you shouldn’t notice any change in your water pressure when you install it.
What about changing the filter? How often should I do that?
Simple answer: Replace it when the water pressure starts to slow down OR when it’s been more than a year. You can push it past a year, if you really want to, but once you start getting into the year and a half to two year range, I’d start to get a little skittish about safety.
Complex answer: Schedule a call and brace yourself. I could talk about this for 15 minutes without breaking a sweat.
To replace the cartridge, flip the handle up to shut off the water. Then, twist the cartridge (lefty loosey) and pull it out.
Then, take your replacement, push it back into the head and twist (righty tighty). Flip the handle down to turn the water back on.
Then, run the tap for a few minutes to flush out any dust or little bits. And there we go!
